Description
Giacinto Facchetti (Treviglio, july 18, 1942 – Milan, september 4, 2006) was an italian soccer player e sports director. He linked his name to that of Inter of which he was a player from 1960 to 1978 – collecting a total of 634 appearances and 75 goals – and president from January 2004 to September 2006.
” When I arrived at Inter I knew perfectly who Giacinto Facchetti was. His fame transcended the borders of Italy, and in Argentina he was well known. Over the years he became a friend to ask for advice and taught me to always reflect in times of trouble. He passed away on September 4, 2006, and five days later we won a difficult game (Fiorentina-Inter 2-3). In this match I wore in his honor the captain’s armband dedicated to him.” (cit. Zanetti)
